Restaurant Name: NY Vintners
Location: The Triangle Below Canal
The Scoop: To reiterate from our last post about this aaaaamazing place: it’s a wine store with fabulous wine/food pairing classes and dinners, wine bootcamp (need) and an out-of-this-world wine cellar.
Classes Attended: Perfect Pizza Pairings
We have been WAITING to go to this class. Wine, pizza - sold. I mean, we are sold with anything that includes either wine or pizza, so to have them in conjunction just seems right.
So we walk in, are handed a glass of rose & are immediately hit with the mouth-watering aromas coming from the kitchen. No lie - I don’t think we have smelled anything better. We looks a looksy at the first pizza.. and we weren’t disappointed. At all.

Those heirloom tomatoes are a piece of art - am I right? Anyways, Chef Ryan started the class & if you haven’t had a class with him, you need to. He’s hysterical and does an amazing job. I’m not asking you to take my word for it, I’m telling you.
Anyways, this was the initial setup. Absolutely beautiful.

So for the wines - we tried two whites to start - one was very light, similar to a Sauv Blanc, the other was a Torrontes grape - and it was divine. I mean, paired with this pizza (below), how could you lose?

Yeah, there’s no losing here. The tomatoes were absolutely succulent - and the two cheese combo (which was interestingly put on the pizza post-oven) just made it peeerfection.
Okay - now on to the reds.
We tried a magnificent Malbec and a to-die-for Chianti Classic – sidenote: we bought all these wines immediately after this class – proof of HOW amazing they were. For the pizza, I mean, take a look:

BBQ. Pork. Like, is that a joke? It was ridiculous how good it was. Pure beauty. This class didn’t disappoint - however, that is the case with every New York Vintners class/event. If you haven’t tried one out, I seriously suggest you do.
My next class will be Farm to Table Tribeca, then probably Korean BBQ.. then maybe Old World Pairings. I will do them all.
