Restaurant Name: El Born
Location: North Williamsburg – the BK
The Scoup: Spanish brunch, very attractive interior with a casual patio
The Vibe:
We were looking to be adventurous last Saturday, so we figured - let’s have brunch in Williamsburg, check out the street festival on Bedford, head to the Smorgasborg (because how could you not), and lastly take a look at the Renegade Craft Festival.
El Born is an amazingly authentic Spanish restaurant in the BK that really does brunch right. We walked away feeling very satisfied with all components of our meal - our waiter, the drinks (amazing), the food & the atmosphere.

The Beverages:
So, we chose - naturally - do the the bottomless brunch, which gives you the choices of Aigua de Valencia (organic orange juice, vodka, gin, cava), Sangria el Born (wine, gin, brandy, juice, fruits), & lastly, Gazpacho Maria (spicy gazpacho mix, vodka). To say we were wowed by these drinks is an understatement. The first, which was basically an next level mimosa (now we’re talking) was amazing - it tasted so fresh & definitely had a great kick. Similarly, the Sangria was amazingly fresh for this 90 degree Saturday and was garnished beautifully with fruit. Lastly, the the Gazpacho Maria was ultimately a much tastier bloody mary with a totally more doable texture. Get me back there ASAP.
The Chow:
Their brunch menu is full of traditional Spanish meals - so we opted for the Ous trencats and the Truita de bolets i kale. Starting with the Ous trencats which was comprised of broken fried eggs, Spanish ham, potatoes & shishito peppers. Our waiter said it was his favorite meal as well as the most popular dish on the menu - and rightfully so. The beautifully cooked fried eggs alongside the ham, potatoes, & peppers was absolute perfection. Adding a little homemade hot sauce really kicked it up a notch. The Truita de bolets i kale was ultimately a kale & mushroom omelette, and it was pretty spectacular. Sautéed to perfection and melted in our mouths. Amazing.

The Recap:
We would go back there in a second. Our drinks were superb, it was a very comfortable and fun setting, & the food was on point. After having several drinks and a hearty meal, we took on the day with stride. Talk about your perfect Saturday in the city.
